Catherine Mokgothu| Software Engineer & Mentor

Computer Science Graduate, passionate about programming. I currently work as a Java Engineer at American Express. I love taking on new challenges and enjoy teaching the next generation to code through my knowledge transfer sessions, presentations and at hackathons. I am ambitious, courageous and collaborative developer with experience in web-based technologies. Keen to expand my skillset working within a dynamic team to create great customer experience.

American Express: March 2020 present

Maintained automation tools for a membership rewards legacy platform. Implemented high priority deliverables and upskilled through the process by creating API for application to remain compliant. Contributed to an automated regression suite adopting BDD Behaviour and CI/CD tooling. Implemented production script as per specification to retrieve customers data. Volunteering, coaching and mentoring new apprentices and graduates. Upskilling alongside other engineers by contributing to an innovation idea - building an application to enhance the colleague experience.

Falcorp Technologies/Consulting at Liberty: Sept 2017 - Feb 2020

Maintained and supported Liberty Payroll and Quoting system to ensure effective customer experience. Developed new business requirements to expand the scope of the business. Analysed, investigated and resolved production incidents. Conducted mentoring and coaching sessions for interns. Presented a topic to empower over 40 women in tech on “How to thrive in a male dominant industry without losing yourself”.

Microsoft South Africa: March 2017 - Aug 2017

Developed a multi-tenancy system for a client, application to be used by Department of Education (Teachers). Performed manual system testing, updating and adding test cases . Volunteered to upskill with other engineers by running knowledge sharing session to give greater exposure to modern stacks and processes.
